In this economy it would seem that no one has any money to invest in luxuries. Yet, many home owners are deciding to invest in installing a steam shower in their house or apartment. While this may seem a risky prospect, it’s actually a good investment.

The average steam shower is going to cost between $1800 and $2500. More elaborate setups can run as much as $4000, but that’s only for larger sized stalls with entertainment consoles and other special features. This cost will easily be recouped by savings in water over time and the increased value of the home.

There are, of course, other benefits to having a steam shower in the home. The ability to relax and unwind in a private steam after a long day at work can be priceless. The recuperative powers of a steam after a run or other exercise is also well known — hence the number of health clubs that have steam rooms.

Steam has been proven to be an effective therapy for colds, allergies, asthma, and other sinus and respiratory conditions. Steam does great things to the skin and circulation and can help with detoxifying the body as well as easing stiff muscles and joints.

Throughout the journey of life we experience many different things. Some of them are good–like getting married or having children–and some of them are not so good –like losing a job or a loved one. However all of these experiences, both the good and the bad, shape us into who we are today. And when we learn from them and apply them to our lives we become better, more well rounded people.
College is a pivotal time in life. While it is a time of learning, it is also a time to experience many new things. Some of those experiences could be detrimental to your future, such as spending too much time partying and not enough time studying. On the other hand, there are some experiences that will help provide you the future you dream of, like an internship at Southwestern Company where you learn valuable job skills as well as personal responsibility.
All of the experience throughout your life will culminate and determine how you relate to others and what your work ethic is like. So when you go to apply for a job all of those experiences will shine through. Perhaps spending time with friends made you more social and better equipped to work in a team. Through the southwestenr compnay internship you may have learned self-motivation, initiative and integrity that could eventually help you in leadership roles.
Everything in life happens for a reason. We just need to be aware of the lessons we can learn from different experiences and when we can apply them to our lives.

Dallas’s Urban Street Bazaar

If it’s the first weekend in October, it’s time for the annual Urban Street Bazaar. Over 65 vendors will offer a variety of goods at the 11th bazaar, which takes place in the Bishop Arts District. Visitors to the metro will want to leave their luxury Dallas hotels to join the city’s unique celebration of the DIY alternative art & craft movement that has been sweeping the country in recent years.

Founded in 2005, the Urban Street Bazaar is held several times throughout the year, with the latest being October 2-3, 2010. Visitors will have the chance to browse and purchase handcrafted items of every kind, including hip, unique, and funky jewelry, clothing, and art. Over sixty vendors are scheduled to participate.

The Bazaar also features the Project Make Fashion Show. Around 15 local acoustic bands will provide music throughout the weekend. Hours for the event are noon – 8pm on Saturday and noon – 4pm on Sunday.

The event is organized by Make Studio , a modern craft lounge that offers a boutique, classes, and special events.

Seattle’s Nippon Kan Theatre

Seattle is one of the most memorable cities in the country, and perhaps it’s because the city itself has a memory. The citizens of the place are very conscious about where they live, and take great pains to keep the past in the present. Looking at the future of those who are growing up here makes for careful deliberations to keep things in balance, and it’s also something that attracts visitors, enjoying Seattle hotels for a weekend or sometimes more. It’s evident in the architecture, and sometimes evident in the curtains.

Seattle’s Central District is home to some of the city’s more diverse communities, and those who lived through the difficult years of Japanese internment will also remember the history of this population in the city. The Nippon Kan Theatre opened in 1909, and served as a theatre and performance space, as well as a community center for the city’s Japanese-American population. In the beginning years, the fire curtain that hung here served as a massive advertisement for local businesses, where local shop owners could buy a square of space.

It was taken down after six years, and when the internment camps closed the space for a few decades, the curtain had been all but forgotten. Rediscovered in 2006, a renovation project helped to preserve the curtain, so that its place in the memory of the city could be made visible once again.

This year’s Sing-Fest is already over, but it’s never too early to start considering the next festival. True, there are plenty of exciting things to do in Singapore all throughout the year, where entertainments are there to be had for all guests of all ages, in one of the most fascinating places in the region, and Singapore Hotels are always accommodating. For music lovers, however, this event is one of the great moments of the year, and people do come from all over the world.

In part, the attraction is simply the location. It happens in Fort Canning Park , overlooking the Singapore River. There are always fascinating things to learn in every part of Singapore, but here, the history goes back 700 years, so there’s always something new to discover.

The big attraction, however, has to be the lineup. This past year saw the likes of Kate Perry, Smashing Pumpkins, Lupe Fiasco, Kanye West, and the Wonder Girls. It’s one thing to be in an international island city-state, where cultures mix, and cultural productions are a blend of many styles and histories. But it’s another thing altogether to see these international acts play outside of their home countries, where the idea of a global world really comes to life.

Colorado is one of the nation’s most beautiful states and it also has an incredibly diverse geography.
