One of the great tools for any decorator is the element of surprise. Unless one is decided on being a complete minimalist , there is always room for hidden touches here and there, and these may not even be visible to the eye at first. Carefully adding small touches of bright colors like red, here and there, can help to move the viewer’s eye throughout the room or living space, and add a unifying element that might not even register consciously.
It is rather delightful, however, when one’s guests notice these touches, and make comments about them, but the effect is there whether they notice or not. This is certainly a big part of the appeal in creating garden spaces. Here, there is even more room for hidden surprises and secret touches. It’s not necessary to have a garden gnome hiding under a tree, but when children find these, it’s always a major event at any gathering.
The same effect is possible with garden fountains . A carefully placed fountain somewhere in a corner can add a remarkable touch of grace to the surroundings. They make fantastic centerpieces, too, and when the fountain is the star of the show, people tend to notice and appreciate it. But to find one hidden, bubbling and alive, somewhere off the beaten path can be like finding hidden treasure, and the effect is simply stunning.
