There are many ways to going about fixing various skin problems.  One of the best approaches is to start with a clean slate, meaning a clean face.  Too many people spend too much money on products designed to ‘fix’ the problem.  Just as the character in the movie “How To Get Ahead in Advertising” went a bit nutty trying to come up with a new way to sell pimple cream, one is likely to feel a bit similar when searching for the one cream that will address acne, or itchy patches or red spots, or flaky and oily combination skin.  These creams do serve to reduce and minimize the symptoms, but they are no cure.  They mask or hide the problem, or in some cases the only make is worse by increasing the irritation.  One of the ways to really fix skin problems is by simply cleaning the skin.

One should clean in a way a bit more rigorous than their daily routine, but taking care as to not over dry the skin.  This will clear out the pores and allow the skin to breathe.  When one begins on this renewal process it is best to lay of make-up for a week or so.  The skin is similar to a sponge, and the make-up only serves to clog the pores, along with the other irritants that one comes into contact with on a daily basis such as smoke, dirt, dead cells and cosmetics.  One will see an improvement in the health of ones skin in a matter of days.

Hot steam, followed by cool water, and then repeated again will open the pores and then restrict them, causing the blood to circulate and revitalize the tissue.  One such easy way to do this is to relax in a hot tub, choosehottubsdirect.com is a good place to look for the best deals, and the greatest varieties.  The steam rises from the tub, then one can simply rinse off the face from time to time with cool water, and then step back into the spa.  And the hot soak will be good for the rest of ones body as well.

Once the cleansing has taken place the next step is exfoliation. This is one of the best treatments one can give their skin as it removes the dirt and the dead cells.  And this step again, requires no fancy nor expensive products.  Oatmeal, sugar and sea salt will all do the trick.  The skin will feel fresh and very soft.  Then it is time to close up the pores, which few simple splashes of cool water will do.  Or perhaps a mask of cucumber for a refreshing end.  These simple all natural steps will ensure beautiful skin that is fresh and glowing with health and radiance.

The outdoor kitchen multiplies your cooking options, and choosing the right outdoor kitchen accessories multiplies this geometrically.  First, with an outdoor kitchen, suddenly there are possibilities for flavors that were unheard of before.  There is also the immense social nature of cooking outdoors, that makes a party really lively, and can make a simple family meal into a very special occasion.  It can also become an every day luxury, and it never gets old.  With the right accessories, there are radical changes possible for outdoor cooking.

The outdoor kitchen grill smoker box can help you to take all of your new grilling techniques and add the amazing possibilities of smoking to your culinary repertoire.  Smoking foods on the grill is an old art form, and one that is, like any art form, in a constant state of evolution.  These accessories move it to a new level, where the state of the art grill merges with the exceptional flavor provided with wood flavoring.  The most advanced cooking techniques are brought to a new level.  Hickory and mesquite are just the beginning of the flavors that can be used to infuse your food, and this will have your whole family, all your guests, and your whole neighborhood, deliciously curious about what’s on.

There are infinite possibilities for what will work with this smoker box, but consider trying grilled mesquite tuna.  Preparing the tuna with the right marinade can do wonders to this already mouth-watering meal.  Try different kinds of pepper, italian dressings and seasonings, or even portabella mushrooms to complete the taste.  Other options for grilling mesquite tuna with your smoker box are trying minced garlic, cilantro, lime juice, and salt and pepper.  Experiment with different oils, too, to lock in the flavors.  Feel free to try combinations of flavors, because with the smoker, you’re bound to have a fantastic result!

In the past, hot tubs were considered expensive, a luxury that only the very wealthy could afford.  But in current times hot tub prices have come down as the advances in technology have made the manufacturing process more efficient and cost effective.  Prices range from very low, for the portable models, to moderate in the models that are installed into the ground or into thearchitecture of ones home.  This is making it possible for more people to enjoy the healthy effects that relaxing in hot tubs will provide.  For not only does it do wonders for relieving stress and easing the aches and pains of sore, tense muscles, there are proven medical benefits for those suffering from a wide variety of the common ailments of the modern world.

Hydrotherapy is fast becoming a treatment for physical and psychological challenges.  As mentioned previously, stress levels are reduced by soaking in hot, bubbling water, as well as those afflictions such as insomnia, anxiety disorders and chronic fatigue.  One of the forms of this kind of therapy involves soaking in water with the temperature between 90 and 94 degrees.  Each soak should be timed at between fifteen and twenty minutes only, and then a cool soak or shower is recommended, which serve to bring the rush of blood flow through the body.

This is a treatment for sprains and muscle tears as well, the hot then cold, then hot then cold serves to provide those injured areas with the blood flow necessary for faster healing times.  For sprains or issues dealing with the back, the water temperature should be raised a bit to around 102 degrees.  For those suffering a simple common cold, or those with the nerve disorder in the back, sciatica, no cool shower is recommended following the soak, just straight to bed for a restful and peaceful sleep.  There are many benefits to owning a home spa, and with such affordable hot tub prices, many people now can enjoy nightly rituals that will heal the body and the soul, and give one the energy to tackle the next day out in the world of work, and traffic and life.

My first trip to Australia to visit a good friend of my was back in the 70’s. They treated me to a traditional backyard Aussie BBQ. The backyard area was big and roomy with plenty of outdoor kitchen cabinets and a built-in grill. These people were serious about their BBQ. They purposely built their home up instead of spread out just so they could have their lovely traditional Aussie backyard. A backyard built to entertain while they put one on the barbie.

My second and final trip to Australia was in 2007. My friends have moved on and are now living in Thailand. My next stop by the way. But, being here now, in Australia, I’ve notice somethings changed. It seems that today’s home lack a backyard. The newer homes are on just has much land as what my friends had, but instead of building up the new homes spread out. Single stories. No room for a backyard, really. No room to entertain, to put on on the barbie. This is a dramatic change which started in the 90’s. It seems that people are spending their money on floor area instead of backyard area.

These new homes contradict the open-air lifestyle for which Australians are internationally renowned for. I guess I can understand that it’s cheaper to build a single-story house, but to lose a culture over it?  I don’t know. It saddens me really. I had such fond memories of the time I spent in my friends backyard and looking forward to telling all my friends in the States that I was treated to a traditional Aussie ‘putting one on the barbie’.  Which I did, I even wrote about it for my local newspaper. Australia’s changing, for the better? I really can’t say. As I’ve said, though, my second trip to Australia was my last.

When you think about home renovation you normally think about paints and what you can do to make the inside of your house sparkle and shine. Renovating your home inside could be as simple as purchasing a new paint color for some accent walls or trying out some new blinds in the master bedroom.

Something else that is normally the last thing to be thought about is the landscaping and what you will do with your outdoor living space. Because remodeling an outdoor living space can get quite pricey, you need to think about what you really want your backyard to have.

If you have a pool in your backyard, you may want to think about resurfacing it. It can be a lot cheaper than having a whole new pool made up for you. And if you have always wanted a spa, but can’t feasibly put it into the pool thinking about buying an above ground one.

Sites like the one of Steve Barbarich and choosehottubsdirect.com has luxury spas at great wholesale prices along with amazing customer service.

Also think about your outdoor cooking space as well. If you are person that likes to grill outside, you need to decide how you will encompass that into your new backyard. Do you want to have a whole outdoor kitchen unit built or just a simple gas grill or charcoal grill? It really depends on your lifestyle and where you are located in the United States.

The next thing you need to take into consideration is what kind of actual vegetation you want in your backyard. You need to maximize your space and properly use it. For example, are flowers really a good idea if your dog is just going to eat them? Decide if you want to put grass in your backyard or what kind of patio furniture you want.

It’s really all about making your space livable for you and your family.

The range of artistic venues in Madrid is vast, from the archaeological sites to the architecture of the Gothic cathedrals and churches, and the museums and the galleries themselves, this city showcases not only art, but the history of various periods as well.  The Madrid best hotels are located next to some of the Renaissance style architectural marvels of the world.  Just walking the streets of the city gives one a look into the styles of the cultures that have influenced the entire city over the years.  Much of the ruins that are still well preserved are the remnants of the two hundred year period of Arabic rule.  Many of the monumental structures and sculptures located in Madrid are the works of the Austrians, and one area of the city, is titled Madrid de Los Austrias due to the abundance of the work in the region.  This is one of the finest neighborhoods for sight-seeing exploration, as along with the main plaza there are many convents, churches and buildings that fill the streets with beauty and works of art from the Baroque time period.

There are many structures from the Neo-classical period of the eighteenth century, including the Sabatini Gardens, the Campo del Moro, as well as one of the most famous museums in the world, the Prado.  Located within the Prado are examples of some of the finest Spanish painters throughout history, such as Picasso, Goya, Velazquez, and Miro.  Located between two of the main roads in the city, the Paseo de la Castellana and the Gran Via, lies the newest district in Madrid, one filled with modern and avant-garde structures of some of today’s most innovative new architects.  The construction of this area has been taking place for the last one hundred years, and is now the center of activity, with many market places, eating and drinking establishments, theaters and hotels.  One can not fully appreciate the art of this city however, without entering one the three famous museums, the previously mentioned Prado, the Sofia Nat. Art Center, and the Thyssen Bornemisza Museum.  All the museums house not only the most famous artists of Spain, but those from around the world.  In all, the city of Madrid will leave one forever, with memories and insight into the amazing legacy and the world of art.

The city of Barcelona is home to many beaches, amazing architecture, some of the finest art museums in world as wells the top restaurants and night spot, and offers a variety of options for accommodation in the top Barcelona hotels.  The weather is temperate, with the Mediterranean offering relief when the summer temperatures get a little too warm.  If one is sensitive to the hotter weather experienced here, then the months of July and August should most certainly be avoided.  And while the humidity can tend to raise in a accompaniment to the raising temperatures, the beach breezes do offer relief and many of hotels are now equipped with air conditioning units.  Only one month during the year tends to cold in the winter and that is the month of February.  The rest of the year is filled with sunny mild days, and beautiful balmy nights.

Due to this fact, bicycling is one of the favorite past-times of the residents and tourists alike.  Many use the bicycle as their only mode of transportation.  Recently many of the roads and streets of the city have bike lanes added to the sides, providing more room and safer passage for those pedaling around town.  More plans are in the works for addition of bike lanes, as well as a project being undertaken to create more roads in general as the people of the entire country are taking steps towards healthier lifestyles, and environmentally friendly sets of wheels.  Paths run along the water ways for those wishing a more leisurely and scenic route, without the traffic and the noise, and a path the will lead one out of the city, for longer rides is just about completed.

For now, where the paths along the streets are not yet added, the cyclist must pedal with car and become adept at dodging the traffic on the busier city streets.  City planners have been taking additional steps to ensure that Barcelona becomes a more cycle friendly city.  During the weekday, commuters are allowed to transport their bikes on the Metro trains and during the weekend or holiday, and throughout the entire summer months of July and August, the commute is free from restrictions.  The city has also adopted the public bike share system that is becoming more prevalent throughout all the major cities in the world.  In all, similar to the towns with such moderate temperatures during the year, Barcelona is one of the best places for those that prefer and love to bike the streets instead of drive them.

The city of Spain that offers everything from incredible theater and dance performances, to live music and relaxation is the city of Seville.  Hotels are located close to many of the theme parks located in the city, creating a myriad of options for those traveling with children.  The Pavilions Theme park is quick becoming one of the favorite tourist destinations and promises hours of fun for the entire family.  The local bars and pubs offer perfect respite from the days spent in the crowded parks, and jazz is big on the music scene as well as the many restaurants and clubs wherein the famous nightly performances of the Flamenco dancers will entertain and inspire those with interests in world of dance and in the spirit of the traditional cultures and brightly colored, elaborate costumes.

Many tourists find themselves in the city over the Easter holidays, and quite honestly, this one of the best places to be during that time.  There are parades steeped in traditional and ritual ceremony that are not seen anywhere else in the world.  The Spring Fair coincides with the holiday and is held for two weeks just following the week of Easter.  This is an intense party that fills the streets with dancing, music and the feasts and cuisine of the region.  The parties are non-stop and the streets are literally filled twenty-four hours a day.

Another festival that surrounds religion and ritual ceremony is that of Corpus Christi.  The ceremony is filled with feasting, and originated more than five hundred years ago in the Barcelona.  The celebration made its way to the city of Valencia, then to Seville and now occurs throughout many of the cities in the country.  One of the most attended of the festivals occurs in the village Costa de La Luz, located close to the city of Valencia, in fact most traveling to this city fly into the airport in Seville, and then take a car for the short trip to the festival.  The entire region surrounding Seville has much to offer those wanted a taste of the traditional aspects of Spain, and festivals and fun happen all year long, there is never a bad time to travel to this city in Spain.

Pablo Picasso is one of the most well known painters in history.  His images are widely recognized throughout the world, and in his home town of Madrid, Spain, hotel walls, businesses and cafes are alive with the images of this son of the Spanish city.  Many artists traveling through Madrid will often make the pilgrimage to the house in which he was born.  This is now the site of the Foundation Picasso.  On of more famous museums, housing much more of an extensive collection of Picasso’s work is located near by, the Palacio de Buenavista. This is one of the favorite locations of art lovers, fans of Picasso, and fans of modern art in general, located in the country of Spain.  For not only are the images created by Picasso brilliantly colored and finely executed, the way that this man painted changed the course of the history of modern art.  Picasso is considered as a true genius in the art world, and innovator of life.

When Picasso was growing up in Malaga, he was recognized by adults, including his father, as a young kid with incredible innate talent, a prodigy.  His early work, much of it accomplished by the time he was still a very young man, is housed in the Museo de Picasso located in the city of Barcelona.  His early drawings resemble and convey the three dimensionality and the details of sculpture.  Picasso was somewhat of a young rebel, preferring to hang out in the cafes where the intellectuals and the working artist gathered rather than in school and art class.  He later went to Paris where he fell in love with the works of his contemporaries, Courbet, Toulouse-Lautrec and Manet.  Picasso was always one who appreciated, respected, and admired the works of the painters of his day, and although he was influenced by the work, he still succeeded in following his own path and creating his own unique style.  His paintings now hang all over the world, in the museums and the galleries, however there is nothing so spectacular as the viewing of these works in the home town of the master painter who created them.

For travelers looking for incredible four-star hotels, Bangalore has plenty to offer.  With luxurious accommodations in a world-class setting, the sky’s the limit for relaxation.  Room service is splendid and delicious, and guests will find themselves living in the heart of their own dream.  A delicate combination of old and new marks the sense of style here, and the time here will be remembered for the sumptuousness of the decor.  Impressive and also understated, there is a palpable sense of gracefulness that permeates the atmosphere here.

Bangalore itself is a fascinating metropolis.  With one of the largest universities in the world, a technology sector that is extremely well-connected to all aspects of global culture, and a local population that is accepting and welcoming, yet still maintaining a strong sense of their own customs, Bangalore is a traveler’s feast.  There is an urban core here that is strikingly local, but also oddly familiar.  This kind of odd familiarity is at the heart of Bangalore artist Ravi Kumar Kashi’s works.  Born in Bangalore in 1968, he still resides here, after having lived away off and on for a time.  The sense of urban identity that is starting to define modern experience has always been present in his work, but his latest creations take this theme into another level.

He received his first degree from the College of Fine Arts in Bangalore in 1988.  He has also earned an M.F.A. in Print Making from Baroda, an MA in English at Mysore, and, in 2001, studied handmade papermaking in Glasgow from a Charles Wallace India Trust grant.  He has worked as a teacher in engineering, and is also working more and more as an instructor for visual arts.  Although his work is shown all over the world, the paintings and paper sculptures of Ravi Kumar Kashi are shown extensively in Bangalore, New Delhi, and Mumbai.  His work takes modernity as a focus, and adds some peculiar and wonderful twists.  He says that he is extremely influenced by visual culture, as well as the culture of the everyday spectacle.  Many of his paintings have advertising images as the center, but twisted and distorted to become comments on life in the world right now.  His work has an immediacy and an energy that is distinctively his own.

Four-star Dubai hotels are stunning experiences in old-world hospitality in the heart of an utterly contemporary city.  Dubai is one of the global hotspots, attracting movie stars and entrepreneurs from all over the world.  The energy here is fascinating and contagious, with old markets and new shopping malls, and everything seems to be a recent invention.  There are many recent inventions, in this, one of the most populated cities in the Arab world.  Artists and intellectuals come here to re-invent themselves, and celebrities here come to hide from the definitions the world is creating for them.  The food and the culture are gorgeous, and the architecture is simply dazzling.

Locals and international visitors alike are caught by the range and imagination of architectural styles in Dubai.  First caught up by the visually delightful and seemingly impossible Dancing Towers, Zaha Hadid’s multi-use towers are extremely useful eye candy.  Now known as the Signature Towers, they serve as home to some of Dubai’s financial most influential financial organizations.  Likewise a stunning monument, the Burj Al Arab, or Tower of the Arabs, is meant to resemble a sail billowing in the wind.

These unique architectural experiments are not unique to Dubai.  What was a city less than one-tenth its present size just thirty years ago, Dubai has built itself up into something that is fascinating to behold.  As some journalists and cultural critics note, Dubai, the city, is able to construct itself and simultaneously define itself.  There are no controls over the growth here, because the city is literally in the middle of the desert.  There are no historical associations here, either, because human history has left very few footprints.  As a result, the architects and builders are free to move in whatever directions the culture might dictate.  So there are tremendously exciting works in progress, and interesting projects such as the Rek Jebel Al Jais Mountain Resort, which promise a unique opportunity for architects, and visually stunning new edifices for a new world.

Looking for the best hotels that rank up in the category of five-star?  Singapore has lots of options to keep the world’s most discerning travelers happy.  There is a splendid combination of old and new here that make for an exquisite and uniquely novel experience in accommodation.  Cutting edge contemporary design is coupled with details from antiquity, and this makes for a constantly unfolding sense of style that is hard to match in any other city.  Singapore is an extremely unique country, and its urban centers are concentrations of this unique energy, that make for a constantly interesting and vibrant cityscape.

There are artists and writers and intellectuals who haunt the streets here, making it a hotspot for urban culture.  Designers and fashion critics move together in concentric circles, commenting on culture and making culture.  And there are other individuals who work to make their lives a work of art.  One local who falls outside of every category and makes his own is Jeffrey Tan, the singing cabbie.  His cab is for rent for $35 an hour, and it’s not the luxury and style of his 4-passenger vehicle, it’s the driver himself who is the attraction here.

Jeffrey Tan sings.  He’s not like the cabdriver who sings to himself to a tune only he can hear, but his work is to sing for the passengers.  Sometimes billing himself as a kind of traveling karaoke bar, Jeffrey Tan can sing thousands of songs, in eight languages.  He specializes in keeping his passengers entertained, and has found a truly unique way to do it.  If you should get tired of his voice, he’ll plug into his state of the art karaoke machine and you and your party can do your own karaoke.  The possibilities here are staggering, and endless fun.  If your destination is often the journey itself, this might be one of those perfect details that make life worth living.

Dim lighting in the Mosque casts an intriguing glow at night, playing up the artistic facets of this structure.

Native clothing of Dubai is well suited for the high temperatures in this area. The kandoura or dishdasha is a white, ankle length, loose fitting robe-like garment worn by the men. Their heads are covered for protection from the elements. Women wear long sleeved, full length dresses which are also called kandouras. While Hyderabad has many historical landmarks and cultural heritage monuments, the Charminar building is one of the most significant icons of the city. Hyderabad is the capital of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh and the monument was built in 1591, shortly after the city had become the capital. It was built by Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah and a legend surrounding it states that it was constructed due to a promise he had made to Allah. Tourists who visit India and stay in one of the five star hotels in Hyderabad have many landmarks, scenic wonders and entertainment options to fill their time, and a trip to Charminar is almost always on the top of the list.

The name of the building translates as the four towers, or mosques, of the four minarets. It is an amazing architectural spectacle and awes visitors from their first glimpse. It is a square monument with four sides measuring 20 meters. Each of the corners has a tall pointed minaret, which reach heights of over 48 meters. This means they can be seen from all over the city, and the building is one of its fundamental icons. There are winding staircases inside the minarets and when one reaches the top of them, they are provided with a spectacular panoramic view of the city. The building is slightly different in construction from the Taj Mahal due to the minarets being incorporated into the actual building.

Each of the four sides of the Charminar has giant arches that open into a beautiful plaza. These main thoroughfares were originally royal roads. The building was built from lime mortar and granite, which demonstrates its basis in Cazia architecture. The inside of the monument is as beautiful as its exterior and is well known for its graceful moldings and carvings. There is a tremendous amount of detail in the design, which gives the appearance of lace. At night it is illuminated and looks spectacular from great distances and up close.

Nasiruddin Humayun was the second of the Mughal Emperors who ruled parts of India, as well as Afghanistan and Pakistan. He was born in 1508 in Kabul, and succeeded his father in ruler-ship. This caused a bitter rival between Humayun and his half brother Kamran Mirza who would assume the ruler-ship of Lahore and Kabul. He was Emperor for a short period of time, though it was also an extremely significant and transitional era. He lost the kingdom at one point, as did his father, though he would regain it and the new kingdom would be even larger than before, spanning some one million square kilometers. His death left a substantial legacy for hisson Akbar the Great.

Humayun’s sister wrote a biography on the Emperor and characterized him as being extremely benevolent and lenient. He was known for his capacity for forgiveness. He was also portrayed as being extremely superstitious and had a great interest and fascination for the occult and astrology. Once he became Emperor, he reorganized the entire administration according to mystical principles and design. He also had the habit of shooting an arrow into the air. The arrow would have his name on it, or that of the Shah of Persia. Depending on how the arrow landed, he would interpret the results as indicative of whom was to become more powerful. Humayun was also known for his heaving drinking and consumption of opium pellets, after which he would recite poetry.

One of the stories that testified to his forgiving nature involves his youngest brother killing one of Humayun’s most trusted advisors, before leaving with an army headed to Agra. Humayun went his mother’s house and in her company as well as other women he swore that he would not hold a grudge against his brother and simply urged him home. This and other stories present him as a gentle and humane leader, and he was also known for his dislike of war. Humayun died in 1556 and his remains are in the Humayun Tomb in Delhi. This incredible complex of buildings is one of the city’s major landmarks and is visitedby the many guests staying in the Delhi five star hotels.

Delhi is an ancient city located on the banks of the River Yamuna in India. It is the country’s second largest metropolitan area and also ranks as the eight largest in the world. It is believed to have been continually inhabited from the 6th century BC or earlier. It should not be confused with New Delhi, which is the country’s capital and also lies within the National Capital Territory of Delhi. There are many landmarks, cultural traditions and art forms that are based on or representative of the city’s dynamic history. Tourists staying in the Delhi 5 star hotels are often struck by the incredible cultural heritage and ancient status of the city. The Red Fort and Humayun’s Tomb are to landmarks that are extremely attractive to tourists.

The Red Fort became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2007. This is an incredibly beautiful building complex and showcases India’s high level of ornamental design and art oriented architectural style. The actual artwork contained there is a fusion of Persian, Indian and European styles and inspired the creation of the rich and colorful Shahjahani form. Because it demonstrates the long tradition of art significance, it is one of the most important complexes in India. The walls of the Fort have heavy stringed courses along the higher sections, though they are extremely smooth. The main entrance, the Lahore Gate, leads to the Chatta Chowk, which is a covered bazaar street. The walls on this street are lined with spaces for shops and stalls. Delhi Gate lies at the southern end of the street.

Humayun’s Tomb is a complex of buildings whose construction began in 1562. It was designed by the Persian architect Mirak Mirza Ghiyath and is located in Nizamuddin East. It is situated close to the Dina-panah citadel, which was founded by Humayun in 1533. The Tomb was commissioned by his wife, Hamida Begum. The Tomb contains the graves of numerous Mughal Emperors and was built from rubble masonry. It stands on an 8 meter high vaulted terrace and was the first Indian building to use the Persian double dome on a high neck drum. It is spread over an area of 12,000 square meters.

We knew we had arrived when we bumped into Kuala Lumpur; literally bumped. My husband and I left the Philippines flying with Air Asia. Previously my husband was extolling the benefits of travelling by air; it was after all our 8th flight, but this time, unexpected of course, we had a scary experience. The flight was almost 4 hours long, but right around hour 3 we were told to get ready to land at Kuala Lumpur. Well the cabin got all noisy with everyone wondering what was going on, my husband nudge me to look out the window and it seemed as we approached the buildings and trees and the countryside was unusually close. Also, we were coming in very fast. Then before we knew it, we hit the runway; we hit it near the end of the runway. We bounced a couple of times so hard we were thrown back in our seats from being bounced up out of our seats. Then the nose of the airplane rose and veered to the left. I was too stunned to scream. My fellow passengers must have been stunned also, because it was dead silent. Then, part of the interior structure of the plane came away and hit the people on the head in the row in front of us.

Someone from the crew ran from the back of the airplane to help out the struck passengers, but just as fast as this all happened it was all over. We were still moving down the runway, but at a very slow taxing rate. The aircrew was silent and their attitude was strange. My husband and I are well-seasoned travellers and we had hard landings before, but the crew always had some form of an apology or explanation, but on this occasion they said absolutely nothing.

As we headed off to one of the 5 Star Hotels Kuala Lumpur offers, we were somewhat apprehensive about our next flight with Air Asia and we were somewhat sore from the hard landing. So, we called ahead and arranged for our hotel to have a much needed massage ready for us in our hotel room when we arrive. A hard hitting massage sounds pretty good to us right now.

When I walked around Tenerife, I found that there are many examples of volcanic forces forming the island. I wanted, though, an inside view of the Cave of the Wind, Cueva del Viento. I’ve heard it’s an underground landscape where volcanic lave flows bored all the way through rock to form one of the longest recorded series of volcanic tubes in the world.

The tunnels have three main levels that are linked by fissures, odd chasms and off-shoots. Apparently, the lave came from Pico Viejo located on the eastern slope of Mount Teide. Approximately 27,000 years ago there was an eruption which added to later activities inside these tubes. I could clearly see the different layers of lava as well as some smaller tunnels in which water meandered throughout the caves.

My tour guide, which I arranged for through one of the 5 Star Hotels in Tenerife, explained that the drive to Cueva del Viento would be a steep 10 minute drive above Icod de los Vinos north of Tenerife. When we arrived, there was a visitors center in the center of the small village which was added after a 15 year closure to the public due to a re-vamping project was necessary for public safety. Right now, the tour into the tunnels is free, but that might change. I went well prepared with good hiking boots and an extra coat. I heard it can get quite cooler inside the tunnels.

Once inside, we were handed a helmet with a light attached. This light was powered by a waist belt that had a power-pack attached. I could see about 20 feet all around me with the helmet light. I wasn’t allowed, for some reason, to use my high powered flashlight. I wish my hired guide would’ve told me that before, I felt silly carrying it around. As we proceeded onwards and downwards, the chamber narrows to a tunnel. If you are even the least bit claustrophobic, I recommend not taking this tour. The roof is only maybe a half-an-inch above my head. I was surprised to see insects and small creatures, in the tunnels and watch out for spiders. All in all, I was glad to take the tour. Tunnels forms from volcano’s really are a world onto themselves.

Visitors traveling to India will find the five-star Jaipur hotels to be exquisite in design and hospitality.  All your needs will be met here, for elegant food and intoxicating comforts, along with connectivity for the business-minded, and luxury for everyone else.  The city is one of the most popular visitor’s spots in all of Asia, and it may be a fine idea to take a break from the relaxation and rejuvenation, and see some sights.

The city is magnificent in structure and in form.  Vidyahar the architect of the city, designed it based on an eight-sided mandala (with one more side to reflect the planets).  The presiding deity of Jaipur is Govind Dev, one of Vishnu’s avatars, and based on the text the Vashu Shastra, this deity is located at the center of this mandala, a reflection of the arrangement of political power.  The mandala is a very old symbol, and to apply the symbol to a city was to arrange it so that the citizens would benefit from the flow of power represented in the structure.

A mandala is a very common but misunderstood symbol.  In simpler terms, a mandala is a circle, with designs decorating the outer edges.  These are very common throughout Hindu and Buddhist philosophies.  They seem, at first glance, to be very beautiful images that make nice decorations.  In essence, however, a mandala is a map for the soul’s direction as it passes from one plane to another.  To apply these principles, then, to a city, is to suggest that the citizens are inhabiting a divine place, and are making divine marks on their own journey through time and space in their daily lives.  These are some of the founding principles of the great city of Jaipur.

Where in the world can one find the best five star hotels?  Spain might have some answers, and if they’re not definitive, at least the search will be a true pleasure.  Spain is one of the most romantic places in the world, from classical times to now.  It may be the languages that are so enchanting, the island lifestyle that seems to dominate the country, or the intense conversations.  There are also the heady pleasures that permeate the humidity like a welcome friend.  Bullfights, red wine, rich and delicate foods, the land is made of myth and history.

Sometimes myth and history intertwine, like they do in the life of Spain’s celebrated singer-songwriter Joaquin Sabina.  He is celebrated all over Spain, where most every local can sing at least one of his deeply poetic songs by heart, and he is also considered to be a treasure of the world all over Latin America, where he has toured extensively.  Born in 1949, Sabina has become a true living legend.  By the early seventies, he was already positioning himself as a political artist, with his intense opposition to Franco’s fascist policies.  His father, a policeman, would ironically receive the orders to arrest his son, who was already becoming famous.

And very famous as a man who loves women, with several broken relationships already following in his wake.  The formative years of his songwriting would see some 14 albums, and a very lucky break from CBS records.  Some of his best-known albums are “Dimelo en la calle,” “19 dias y 500 noches,” “Yo, Mi, Me, Contigo,” and “Este boca es mia.”   In 2001 Joaquin Sabina suffered a stroke following years of hard living, and he took a hiatus from performing, to follow three years later with “Alivo de luto,” a beautiful album that is deeply melancholy, terribly romantic, and lyrically complex, funny, and sad.  In short, he’d come back from near death to live with gusto, and his recent tours are remarkable for the energy, gracefulness, and self-deprecating humor that guides his songwriting.

For five-star hotels, Mumbai has a lot to offer.  In one of the world’s most dizzyingly-complicated and fascinating cities, the tradition of hospitality is long and extremely well-developed.  Travelers here will be constantly surprised at how their every need is already met.  There is also a luxurious sense of well-being that comes when one sees how delicate and exquisite touches are everywhere.  The sense of design is extraordinary, and there is certainly no lacking for contemporary amenities.  Technologically, guests are kept connected to the rest of the world in any way they can imagine.  But there is also enough here to make one want to escape, and spend the time hiding in comfort here.

Mumbai itself is a tremendously interesting place.  With thousands of distractions every moment, the days can be spent sight seeing, browsing the markets, eating gorgeous foods, and getting caught up in the local culture.  It is an incredibly diverse place, with languages and customs and life-styles that make people watching a real pleasure.  There are also a huge number of local celebrities, and it’s a great place to star-gaze.  One fascinating celebrity couple is the recently married Divya Palat and Aditya Hitkari.  Known as one of the most famous theatre couples in Mumbia, they have been married since 2006, and have starred together in The Graduate, My Way, and The Legend of Ram.  Divya and Aditya attribute at least part of their relationship’s success to their similar drives for work: they’re workaholics, they confess.

In a more recent interview, Palat and Hitkari say that their three favorite pursuits are, in order, food, life, and work.  The work comes easy to this show biz couple, with her background in films and theatre, and his former work as a vj for MTV.  Their visibility in India is high, and Mumbai even more so.  For life, they enjoy travel, and try to make visits to at least three countries a year.  For food, they are constantly looking for ways to surprise each other, by re-creating scrumptious restaurant memories in their home.  Their tastes run toward hot and spicy, which keeps the fire strong in their marriage.

Arriving to the capital city of Delhi , I found it to be better than Mumbai on many issues. For one it’s has a better standard of living alongside a lower cost of living. Two great combinations. I did find the pollution on certain day to be overwhelming, but I haven’t forgotten that Delhi is the first city around the world to adopt a ‘green’ CNG fuel for it’s public transportation system which I took from the airport to one of the Four Star Hotels in Delhi where I had book a room for the week.

Delhi is definitely more affordable than Mumbai, where I just came from. I’ve heard that I might be able to find a very reasonable price in regard to real estate. So, switching from wanting to live in Mumbai to living in Delhi was an easy choice. I can’t imagine surviving in Mumbai given the shear  astronomical cost of eating out or how much vegetables cost there. I don’t make that much money, and Mumbai would make me almost a pauper .

So, living in Delhi will be like living in luxury. Delhi is a dream city for me because I’m a history addict and an art lover. Delhi has been India’s capital before time and every dynasty left it’s own architectural grandeur for me to explore and appreciate. Moreover, I’ll enjoy watching the changing of the seasons; Delhi has a pleasant winter, where Delhi is a fashion Mecca parade of people dressed to impress in their winter wools. For spring I’ll be able to see all the well-planned tree-lined streets turn from a barren skeleton canopy to a new flowering blossoming wonderland all the while witnessing the morning ragas by the musical stalwarts at Nehru Park. I’ll also have the fun of changing my wardrobe every six months.

I have found my new home in Delhi and I am very excited and happy that there is such a wonderful place here in India. Truly a dream come true for me.

biza, Spain, often referred to as “The White Island” for its typical architecture. This is the third largest of the Balearic Islands off the coast of Spain in the Mediterranean Sea. There are over 50 islands in this cluster, many of them uninhabited. The beaches, hillsides, cliffs and coves are absolutely breathtaking in their beauty and serenity. The weather here is extremely pleasurable with mild summers and winters, boasting over 300 days a year of bright, clear blue skies and warm sun. This is ideal for the abundant outdoor and water activities tourists can enjoy throughout the year. The local residents are sincerely hospitable to the many thousands of tourists that visit yearly. After your first visit, you will want to plan other trips to Ibiza as you cannot experience all this beautiful little island has to offer in just one visit. Interestingly the weather, scenery and hospitality aren’t the only attractions here.

There is no denying, Ibiza has a longstanding, notorious reputation for it’s nude beaches and wild nightlife with it’s many elaborate nightclubs and not so elaborate bars. The hippie culture greatly contributed to this reputation. Over the years it has drawn tourists from all over the world to participate in or observe this sometimes riotous nightlife. The local Tourism Department has worked hard to dispel this reputation and promote activities that encourage families to choose Ibiza as their next vacation spot. Their hard efforts have definitely paid off as this is a fabulous vacation spot for a family. Never fear though, the exciting and sometimes rowdy nightlife is still there for those late night adventure seekers. Ibiza has hundreds of wonderful restaurants specializing in exquisite cuisine, many of these restaurants will be found in the best hotels Ibiza, located not only on the stunning beaches but also in the very heart of the cities. For a more casual dining experience you can patronize one of the many local eateries serving a “home cooked” menu with a local flair.

Among the numerous and varied activities and tours you can enjoy is the interesting Don Pedro Shipwreck. The Don Pedro was a merchant ship that sank off Ibiza last July and is now open for diving excursions. For those that have a love of the water and are seeking a most unusual diving experience, this is a definite must do! The Don Pedro has the distinction of being the largest shipwreck in Europe that meets recreational dive limits. The diving tours are conducted by professional, experienced guides, guaranteeing a diver’s dream. All in all, Ibiza has something to offer everyone whether you are young, old, wild or tame…go and enjoy…and plan to return!

Clubbing Ibiza

June 16th, 2009

I found a place where my itch can be scratched, where the world appears to be a wonderful place to live and where my employer won’t see me embarrassing myself throwing dodgy forms in the office. If you can imagine being in the presence of world-class DJs of the likes of Radio One guru and Peter Tong spinning tunes to satisfy hundreds upon hundreds of beat hungry clubbers, then you’re on the right track. It’s none other than Ibiza.

I was fortunate enough to be visiting a friend who booked me in one of Ibiza Spain Hotels. He knew I was a clubber and he told me to come to Ibiza where clubbers everywhere come to drink the nectar that cures one from the ‘itch’ forever. I barely settled in my hotel room when my friend came busting in like a madman and said ‘Come on and grab your glow-sticks and lets get going. I’m about to show you the best that this world-famous little island can offer.’

I admit it; everyone wants cool, chic and chav-free clubbing. Clubbing in Ibiza is an art-form where hours of the night and day switch places. Ditch conventional along with the ideas of bopping along gently to the ‘It’s Raining Men’, and get in the groove. The tiny gem of island of Ibiza sits between mainland Spain and Majorca. It has maintained a reputation over the years attracting clubbers and beauty hunters from all over the world.

Inexpensive flights are an extra incentive to go clubbing in Ibiza and makes it more accessible for the likes of me. Clubbing is especially popular in the summer month between June and September, better known as the ‘Clubbing Season’, bringing out the grand dames of Ibiza clubbing come out to play. Most of the day is spent sleeping or chilling on the beach and then snacking on the scrumptious cuisine.  Clubbing is extremely fun; it’s a party in itself and is a balm for my itch feet.

Barcelona has many cultural and historic factors that attract a diverse population of tourists to this city every year. It is beautiful and has vibrant arts and entertainment scene, as well as many sophisticated cultural elements. The museums and historic landmarks attract many and keep the natural heritage thriving. In addition, it is located on the Mediterranean coast and has great beaches and a thriving water sports activity center. Tourists staying in 5 star Barcelona hotels have many options to choose from in scheduling their daily agendas.

The climate of the city is also one of its most attractive features. It allows for a pleasant year round atmosphere for residents and a great vacation climate for tourists. Technically, it is a Mediterranean climate with a sub-Mediterranean influence. This means that it is not typical to the standard Mediterranean mild humid winters with warm dry summers. Since it is located on the coast of the Iberian Peninsula, Atlantic west winds often bring with them low humidity and no rain. However its proximity to the Atlantic Ocean and its elevation means that it is not as dry in the summer as most Mediterranean basin regions.

On average, the rainy seasons are spring and autumn, while the dryer seasons are summer and winter. However, these patterns are unstable and yearly rainfall and temperature ranges can vary greatly. High atmospheric cold weather invasions can create strong storms in the summer, particularly in August. Barcelona and London share an average yearly rainfall, though London is a lot more stable and predictable in its season patterns, while Barcelona can be subject to unexpected torrential storms. These actually add to the exciting and romantic ambiance of the city, and tourists often enjoy the unpredictable, though never intolerable weather occurrences. For those hoping to spend all day on the beach, they should keep in mind that sometimes the month of June is still cold and rainy.

When looking for the world’s best five-star hotel, India would have to figure prominently on the list.  There are all sorts of geographic zones, cultures, and languages in this baffling and beautiful country, and a stay here will reveal that there is more to see with each subsequent visit.  India is a land of contradictions, where the most cutting-edge technology exists next to old-world traditions.  For guests here, this is good news. In the hotels, there is a generous combination of old-world hospitality mixed with the most advanced technologies, and it is possible to escape from the world, or to embrace it.  Or perhaps a bit of both.

There are thousands and thousands of famous scholars, intellectuals, and artists who have lived here at one time, and the impressive list only gives credence to the fact that this is one of the longest most continually-inhabited countries in the world.  Writers of antiquity are part of the long chronicle of human history, and contemporary writers seem committed to continuing the tradition of writing as if the world mattered.  One of India’s treasures is Arundhati Roy.

Born and raised in Kerala, she left for Delhi when she was 16 years old.  In an interesting twist, one of her jobs before she won so much literary acclaim, was working at a five-star hotel in Delhi, teaching aerobics.  In her mid-thirties, she published her first novel, The God of Small Things.  This is a slightly autobiographical book about Kerala, and is extremely ambitious in scope.  It has received enormous critical acclaim, especially for the raw, lyrical power of her words.  She won the prestigious Booker Prize for this work, among other awards.  In the decade since its publication, she has turned her pen toward more urgent political themes.  Writing about such things as nuclear power, imperialism, and war, she is an extremely articulate and rather fearless voice.  There is still the same stunning lyricism in these works, and the merging of art and politics is remarkable.  One of her most vibrant topics, though, is her native India.  In writing and in interviews, when she speaks of India, there is a peculiar mix of lightness and weight that does seem to carry with them the clarion call of history.  Arundhati Roy has suggested recently that she is starting work on her second novel, which will be one of the most anticipated efforts in literary history.

The majority of the residents in Bali subscribe to the beliefs of Hinduism. One of the major holidays celebrated is the Balinese Hindu New Year, also called Nyepi. It could be translated as Day of Silence, which is primarily what the holiday means. It falls on the Balinese Lunar New Year, which occurred on March 26 of this year. The day is set aside as ritual fasting and meditation. It is intended to be a day of reflection and spiritual honor. Vacationers who are in Bali during this time and are staying in one of the Bali boutique hotels can see the various festivities associated with it.

The observation of the actual Day of Fasting occurs between the hours of six am to six am the following morning. Due to the self-reflective nature of these 24 hours, there are various restrictions placed on specific behaviors. Some of the restrictions include, no lighting of fires, which also means other lights should be left low, no working, and no activities that will cause pleasure as this will remove one from the reflective perspective. Other restrictions include no traveling, no entertainment and no talking. No eating is also common, and relevant to the fasting emphasis placed on the holiday.

The only people who can be found on the streets during this time are those patrolling the neighborhoods and making sure that these restrictions are followed. While Nyepi is a Hindu holiday, the majority of Bali’s non-Hindu population also follows this Day of Silence observation. Tourists who are there at this time will also notice that they are asked to respect this day. They may do as they please inside the hotel, though the beaches are closed and they are not allowed on the streets. Even the airport is closed down on this day, and only emergency vehicles are allowed to be in operation. However, the following day activities resume, and various festivals and rituals are enacted.

Lanzarote is a beautiful island off the coast of Spain. It is the easternmost of the Canary Islands located in the Atlantic Ocean. It is home to many natural wonders and parks including its origins from volcanic activity. This composes a significant amount of its geography and scenic aspects. In addition, the island has attracted many poets and artists to its seclusion and paradise atmosphere. The Canary Islands are attractive to tourists, and Lanzarote is no exception. Visitors to the island stay in one of the 5 star Lanzarote hotels by night and explore its various wonders during the day.

Jose de Sousa Saramago is a Nobel Prize winning writer who lives on the island. He is a renowned novelist, playwright and journalist. He was born in Portugal in 1922. His family was poor and landless, they were considered to be peasants in the small village of Ribatejo. His novel Baltasar and Blimunda brought him recognition when it won the Portuguese PEN Club Award. His international acclaim did not arrive until Saramago was in his mid-fifties. He is a somewhat controversial writer due to his membership in Portugal’s Communist Party and his atheist views. He is also vocal about expressing his opposition to Israel’s actions in Palestine , for which he has received great criticism.

Saramago often experiments with literary styles. He is prone to writing long sentences, sometimes a page or longer. In his 1995 book Blindness he completely quit the use of personal pronouns and instead referred to characters through some unique aspect. Much of his writing deals with isolation in contemporary urban life. He does this through placing his stories and characters in fantastic situations. In his book The Stone Raft, the Iberian Peninsula sails around the Atlantic Ocean after it breaks off from the rest of Europe. His works are often seen as allegories about the human condition and often present an alternative perspective on historic events.
